Japan isn’t the ONLY place that’s both hot and humid. Here in Florida, it gets up to the 80’s Fahrenheit (to get Celsius, I think you subtract 32, then multiply by 2/5) and a 4% humidity rating (maximum possible amount of humidity. I know because I’m both a geek and a nerd). The heat isn’t the worst part; it’s the humidity. I know because I’ve been in 100+ degrees Fahrenheit in Arizona and felt perfectly cool because of the low humidity.
I was in Japan only two weeks ago, I was personally surprised how hot it gets in Japan.
It was not as bad as living in the tropics in Australia, but it is pretty damn close to it.

89F is STILL cooler than it is in Tokyo/Yokohama right now, and, as they’re both port cities on an island, it’s pretty damned humid too.
